Basically, a search engine is what you use to look for something
on the internet. Kind of like a dictionary. You type in what you are looking
for and then hit the "search" button. A list of all the sites pertaining
to that word will then come up. The more specific you are, the better your
search will be. You can narrow your search even farther by using more than
one word. For example: you search for "games" and the search engine comes
up with 2,223,343 possible sites. But if you typed "board and games" or
"board+games" (depending on the search engine you are using) you would
only see 1,343,786 possible sites and so on. I have some of the most popular
search engines on my front page. I picked these because they are the ones
I use the most. You will also notice that the same words get different
results on different search engines. This is partly because web pages are
submitted to different search engines and the key words you use may or
may not be on that site.
